Why Give to PNRI?

We are at a place in history where it is finally possible to understand complex diseases like diabetes. PNRI is committed to doing the critical research essential to answering questions about the fundamental processes of human life and the continual advances needed to prevent and cure diabetes.

PNRI labs trace the development of diabetes in infants and school children, mapping antibodies that mark its growth. They disclose the ways fat affects glucose uptake, clarifying the relationship between diabetes and obesity. They decode the chemical communication between cells, enabling medicine to better manage the immune system, and synthesize hormone-producing cells essential to health. Our laboratories conduct pioneering research into the mechanisms of disease.

We invite you to help us create a future where diabetes is history.

Why Is Your Gift Needed?

Over 150 million people worldwide and more than 18 million Americans have diabetes and that number is growing. It's a race against time and we want to win so that you and your children will live in a world free of diabetes.

Here at PNRI, financial support in the form of grants from peer-reviewed sources such as the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and American Diabetes Association fund research. The direct operations of our labs under the leadership of our seven principal scientists are supported by over $6 million in grant revenue from 35 different funders including Federal, industry and private sources. Unfortunately, not all research expenses can be supported by grant funding. That's why we need your help. Here's a sample of what your funds might support:

  • Interim or bridging funds to supplement research programs waiting for confirmation of grant renewal
  • State-of-the-art shared equipment for our laboratories
  • Seed money for innovative ideas in research
  • Facilities and operations of our first class research center

When you give to PNRI, 84 cents out of every dollar goes directly to support research activities to prevent and cure disease. Won't you join us in discovery?
