Pacific Northwest Research Institute (PNRI) is seeking a Director, Communications who will be responsible for all communications for PNRI including corporate messaging, promotion, internal communications, and philanthropy communications. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director, Communications will collaborate with PNRI leadership and faculty to devise and execute communications strategies that inform and inspire the community 1) to financially support and advance PNRI’s strategic initiatives through philanthropic support; 2) understand the impact that donor support has on the advancement of scientific research and initiatives and 3) Build awareness, credibility and esteem for PNRI’s scientists, labs and initiatives.
The Director, Communications is a seasoned communicator and storyteller with exceptional writing skills and experience in the management of publication and video production, electronic communication and social media, and creative multi-channel campaign development. The Director, Communications will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a consistent brand for PNRI and will coordinate and collaborate with leadership and faculty to ensure that communications are targeted, coordinated and impactful. - Required – Bachelor’s Degree Communications, Journalism, or related field.
- Seven years relevant marketing, communications or writing experience.
- Experience in traditional and digital communication.
- Experience conducting interviews and crafting emotive human-interest stories around a common theme.
- Experience producing collateral materials, newsletters, and videos.
- Must be capable of translating complex scientific information for a general audience.
- Preferred experience working in science, medical, academia, or nonprofit setting.
