PNRI invites applications for the interdisciplinary position of Staff Scientist, supervised by Drs. Lisa Stubbs and David Galas. The Staff Scientist will take a leading role in the Decoding Stress initiative, an innovative research project exploring the genetic control of the neural and metabolic response to chronic stress and the subsequent development of systemic disease phenotypes. The ongoing phase of the initiative includes human genetics studies. Subsequent phases will include experimental validation and mechanistic studies to help guide the development of translational outcomes, such as the development of biomarkers identifying individuals at high risk of adverse outcomes from chronic stress and the identification of individualized therapeutic protocols.
The successful candidate will apply established and newly developed mathematical and computational methods to analyze complex biomedical data sets generated from study data collected at participating hospitals in the initial phase. The Staff Scientist will have responsibility for study conduct, data analysis and interpretation, development of publications and grant applications, and will participate actively in the design of studies in subsequent phases. The Staff Scientist will also take a leading role in the coordination and communication between PNRI laboratories and the collaborating clinical groups and interact closely with PNRI experimental and computational scientists in the overall implementation of the project. This position offers opportunities to develop leadership skills and to receive mentorship for career growth.
