About Dr. Hagopian

William (Bill) Hagopian, MD, PhD joined the Pacific Northwest Research Institute (PNRI) in 1997 and leads our diabetes research program. He is also a practicing physician and Clinical Professor at UW Medicine, where he has treated patients with Type 1 diabetes for over 30 years.

A Leader in the International Diabetes Community

Bill has served on numerous boards and committees, including the Immunology of Diabetes Society, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, the Scientific Advisory Committee of the University of Washington’s Clinical Research Center, and the TEDDY Consortium.

Bill completed his MD and PhD studies at the University of Chicago. He then completed an internal medicine residency, and endocrinology (clinical) and postdoctoral (scientific) fellowships, at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
